Important notes on parameter selection for repeater links

Since in the past there have always been problems setting up nodes that participate in the federation, I have compiled a few hints below. Please always keep the following in mind:

Sysops that operate stations that are active in a network have a special responsibility, not only for their own relay/link. Therefore, please think carefully about what you are actually doing before switching on!

The connection of relays which are not directly controlled by SvxLink (via HF) is not desired! The reasons for this are the problematic generation of a clear squelch criterion, usually additional annoying cw outputs or roger beeps with swinging effects and the fact that two RF paths and thus two analog systems always lead to poorer audio quality. It’s enough if all this is brought in via EchoLink connections.
All locally generated outputs (modules, time, temperature announcements,…) must remain local. Announcements into the network, no matter if speech output or cw-identifiers have to be suppressed in any case. For the NetLogic you should use this NetLogic.tcl which contains empty TCL procedures.
The NetLogic, which maintains the connection to the central SvxServer, should be configured as RepeaterLogic, please use the following parameters (only the most important are listed):

With the parameter OPEN_ON_SQL=600 the network activation is delayed by 600ms, which unfortunately keeps degenerate relay test openings as far away from the network as possible. IDLE_TIMEOUT should at least correspond to the timeout of the RepeaterLogic or approx. 10 seconds for SimplexLinks.

DTMF and ringing tones should be suppressed on the HF side of the respective relay/link (in section [Rx..]):
If possible, use the SQL_TAIL_ELIM=xxx parameter in the [Rx…] section to shorten the noise squint at the end of a pass. This leads to higher latencies, so that the passage is delayed by this time. However, the QSO is really more pleasant if not every pass, no matter how short, is acknowledged with a noise after the pass. The guide values here are approx. 200-300ms.
For attempts etc. the respective link should be separated before from the compound.
Please also influence the local users, then sparking is fun and the association is a real gain.
