LocationInfo (APRS)

SvxLink supports sending APRS beacons to the APRS network as well as Echolink’s own status messages. In the APRS network, the Connect/Disconnect of a station is displayed as an APRS status message. In the APRS network, the SvxLink node is displayed as an „object from…“ in the form EL-DL1ABC or ER-DB0ABC and not as EL-12345. There are several reasons why this was implemented in this form.

The configuration is done in the file /etc/svxlink/svxlink.conf by entering the variable LOCATION_INFO:

Description of the
LOCATION_INFO
Points to the section within /etc/svxlink/svxlink.conf that contains the definitions for the LocationInfo (APRS).

APRS_SERVER_LIST
Server of the APRS network that receives the position reports/status information (via TCP). e.g.
APRS_SERVER_LIST=rotate.aprs.net:14580

STATUS_SERVER_LIST
Echolink server, which receives the current position and status messages (via UDP), e.g.
STATUS_SERVER_LIST=aprs.echolink.org:5199

LON_POSITION
Geographical longitude of own position, e.g. LON_POSITION=11.12.13E

LAT_POSITION
Geographical latitude of own position, e.g. LAT_POSITION=51.52.53N

FREQUENCY
Transmission sequence of the SvxLink node, e.g. FREQUENCY=438.725

CALLSIGN
The callsign under which SvxLink runs, where an „ER-“ for relay stations and „EL-“ for simplex links must be prefixed. e.g. CALLSIGN=ER-DB0ABC

TX_POWER
The transmission power in Watt, e.g. TX_POWER=5

ANTENNA_GAIN
The antenna gain in dB, e.g. ANTENNA_GAIN=6

ANTENNA_HEIGHT
The antenna height above ground, NOT MSL(!), in meters (ANTENNA_HEIGHT=12m) or feet (ANTENNA_HEIGHT=22).

ANTENNA_DIR
Enter the main radiation direction of the transmitting antenna in degrees for the omnidirectional antenna „-1″ , e.g. ANTENNA_DIR=-1

PATH
The APRS path, only important if the beacon is transmitted from a neighboring APRS digi, e.g. PATH=WIDE1-1

BEACON_INTERVAL
The send interval in minutes, e.g. BEACON_INTERVAL=10. Values smaller than 10 are automatically set to 10 minutes.

TONE
Indicates whether a ring tone or CTCSS tone is required for radio communication via the relay, e.g.
TONE=0 -> no ringer/CTCSS necessary
TONE=1750 -> Ringing tone 1750 Hz to open the relay
TONE=250 -> CTCSS tone of 250Hz necessary

COMMENT
Comment that is sent with every beacon, e.g.
